Parents and caregivers may seek advice when a child’s emotions, behavior, or difficulties
at school or home raise concerns. A mental health evaluation can help clarify the
concern and guide appropriate support.

## When to seek advice

The [National Institute of Mental Health](https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/children-and-mental-health)
recommends considering help when concerns persist, cause distress, or interfere
with functioning at home, at school, or with friends. A child’s pediatrician can
be a useful starting point.

## Before requesting an appointment

Contact Alquimedez to confirm availability for your child’s age, state, and requested
service. Ask whether the request is for counseling, a psychiatric evaluation, or
another type of assessment. Availability and the appropriate appointment type must
be confirmed before scheduling.

Prepare a brief description of your concerns and questions. Ask how to submit records
securely and what parent or guardian involvement is needed. An inquiry does not
establish a diagnosis or guarantee medication treatment.

or [contact our office](https://www.alquimedez.com/mental-health-care-contact-us)

seeking so availability and next steps can be confirmed. Submitting a request does
not confirm an appointment.
